Beyond Expectations: The True Impact of Mission Work by Alyster Balingit

Lord, use me, make me Your instrument to introduce You to those who don’t know You. All these are my prayers since I became a Christian. I am seeking answers from God. Then one day, Ate Debbie tapped me, and asked me if I wanted to join a mission, no single hesitation I said yes, but when the mission trip came, God allowed problems in my family (financially & depression) so I think a lot if I can still make it to the mission trip.

My heart is ready but financially I don’t think I can’t make it. However, I trust God and my faith in Him is more than money. And I believe that He is bigger than any problem. I pray that His will be done. So, He sent people to help me financially.

The preparation for the mission trip is not easy. I sent messages to seek support and help from my friends via messenger but they just reacted (heart) to it. I also joined the twenty-four-hour prayer for the mission. And every day I prayed that God would make a provision for me and the team. And all the people that I will encounter will accept Jesus Christ. It is not easy, but if it is God, He will make it happen. My expectations for the mission trip do not match reality. It exceeded my expectations; I have a lot of realization. Mission trips are not just about helping them by giving them food, clothes, medicine, etc. (like how the mission trips go in the movies). It is about the connection between the people, the relationship that we built, the support that we share, the care that we show, and the heart that we beat as one. Honestly, because of this mission trip, I got inspiration. I want to work harder; I want to strive more; I want to learn new things and dream bigger. The people in Thailand and Myanmar made me mature and I want to provide for them, I will save money for them. I believe soon I will meet them again. I will see them successful; I will see them grow, wearing and holding the dreams that we prayed for, getting diplomas, and becoming an inspiration to the people in their country or in the world as they share their dreams and stories with us. For now, the only thing that I can do is to pray for them and I know God will make a way because He is a miracle worker and a promise keeper.

Starting by March 2025, I will donate $200 via online banking to Ms. Rolyn to help her pay for the children’s food in Thailand-Myanmar at least once a year. And praying that every year it will increase.
