COACHING VALUES

Our values are our beliefs. They are the rationale for our decisions, the passions we live for, and the explanation for why we make the choices we do.

Biblical Coaching Values direct the heart and perspective of the coach; they are part of our being as coach. When we embrace the Coaching Values, the way we work with others will change.

Below is a list of ten fundamental Biblical Coaching Values. Our coaching skills will flow out of these values.

BELIEVING IN PEOPLE.

Like Jesus’ belief in us, the unconditional belief of a coach unleashes the power of God for change in the coachee’s life. Therefore, coaching uses listening, asking questions, and keeping the coachee responsible instead of advice-giving; because these disciplines are practical ways to show belief in another person.  (2 Corinthians 5:16-17)

GOD INITIATES CHANGE.

God is the sovereign initiator of our growth, setting the agenda and motivating us to move forward through the real events in our lives. Change starts with God’s action. Therefore, a coach waits to see what God is doing in the coachee’s life before engaging it, instead of trying to push a change agenda on the coachee. (John 5:19)

LEADERS TAKE RESPONSIBILITY.

Coaches develop leaders by keeping them responsible and allowing them to solve their own problems. Taking responsibility for others stunts their growth. Therefore, a coach diligently allows the coachee to choose agendas, goals, solutions, and action steps instead of arranging them for the coachee. (Hebrews 5:14)

TRANSFORMATION HAPPENS EXPERIENTIALLY.

The things that most deeply shape us happen through our experiences and relationships, not by accumulating information. Therefore, transformational coaching focuses on engaging the teachable moments of life in the context of a transparent coaching relationship to produce lasting change. (Job 42:5-6)

LEARNING FROM LIFE.

Life is an ongoing development process individually designed by God for our growth. Coaching works because it takes seriously what life brings as God’s agenda for change. Therefore, coaches listen intently and intuitively, because each incident in the coachee’s life is meaningful and important. (Romans 8:28)

MINISTRY FLOWS OUT OF BEING.

Ultimately behavior comes out of character. What we do is a function of who we are. Identity, character, and destiny issues hold great potential for transformation. Therefore, transformational coaching concentrates on changing what you do by changing who you are. ((Luke 6:45)

LEARNING COMMUNITY.

Maximized growth and destiny fulfillment are only possible within an interdependent learning community. Coaching provides the relational context we need to go farthest and reach highest. Therefore, coaches intentionally invest in the relationship as a vital part of the change process. (Proverbs 27:17)

AUTHENTIC RELATIONSHIPS.

Transparent relationships free us from secret sins and hidden fears that tie us down and give God access to our lives in a deeper way. Therefore, coaches intentionally foster an authentic atmosphere because of its intrinsic power to open us to God’s work in our lives. (2 Corinthians 6:11-13)

OWN-LIFE STEWARDSHIP.

God has entrusted to each person the stewardship of his or her own life. We are individually responsible for our choices and for fulfilling our God-given destiny. Coaches never take freedom of choice away by telling the coachee what to do, because free will is a gift from God. (Romans 14:12, Romans 11:29)

EACH PERSON IS UNIQUE.

Each person is a uniquely valuable individual with a distinctive gifting, history, and call. Coaching is an individualized process, because people are individuals. Therefore, coaching follows the coachee’s discernment and uses the coachee’s solutions, because what worked for one individual may not work for another. (1 Corinthians 12:17-20)

Every Community for Christ (ECC) is the church multiplication catalyst for One Mission Society, serving through biblically-based teams in more than 50 countries. These teams work within the context of partnership with denominations or church associations to start church planting movements to grow healthy churches that will multiply. These joint ventures are commuted to train the trainers in 12 church multiplication principles in the 4 levels of church planting:Pioneer Evangelism, Church Planting, Church Multiplication, and Saturation Church Planting.

In the Philippines, ECC partners with local churches, denominations, organizations, church, and ministerial associations. Train and Multiply is the method being used in leadership training and church multiplication. ECC used to work with only one denomination, Faith Evangelical Church of the Philippines (FECPI). They used to plant churches for FECPI since the 1980s.

In the early 2000s, ECC explored church planting movements and had a vision of planting churches throughout the Philippines, but this vision was too broad for only FECPI. When ECC started to see the needs of other churches in the provinces which are lacking in resources, ECC proposed to share their resources with these other churches and FECPI, allowing ECC to train and foster those churches.

In 2013, Every Community for Christ (ECC) began the systematic training of its ECC paid workers in Train and Multiply (T&M) Launch and Develop, basic coaching, and interactive adult learning design and facilitation skills. Today, they have grown to the fourth generation of T&M trainers. They have increased to over 120 lay leaders, while reducing their paid workers.

They have developed a growing Value Adding Network (VAN) by partnering with other churches and denominations to provide T&M training and help develop their networks. ECC already has a ministry presence in four of the five geographical areas: Tarlac, Pangasinan, Leyte, and West Samar. After Typhoon Yolanda hit the Tacloban area in November, 2013, ECC sent a team to Tacloban to help with the recovery. In less than 3 years, they have planted 11 new worshipping groups, have 14 trained lay leaders, and developed 5 T&M trainers.

ECC has a strong, healthy student ministry on the campus of Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University developing group leaders to the 3rd and 4th generation, while starting other student ministries University developing group leaders to the 3rd and 4th generation, while starting other student ministries on campuses in the targeted area. ECC is also training and coaching ministry leaders in Israel and Malaysia. ECC in the Philippines is well equipped to launch a saturation project in the five targeted provinces and in the streams of student ministry and overseas foreign workers.

ECC was officially registered as a legal entity under securities and exchange commission in October 2018.
